Patrick Barney and Susan "Sam" Shockley have hosted their half hour TV show," His & Her Movie View" for over 15 years. They have been members of the Washington Area Film Critics Association since its inception.
They are more movie reviewers than film critics. If you are going to spend your time and money, will it be worthwhile? While they like movies that deal with tough subjects and provoke lively debate, they also know that many people go to the movies for entertainment and a break from reality. Entertaining movies are not bad because they don't deal with pressing issues, but they can be bad entertainment.
They mix this philosophy with the age old conflict of the Male- Female view of the world. They can both like a movie for entirely different reasons. They see the same movie at the same time, but they don't really "see" the same movie.
They are a happily married couple---to each other. Patrick says," Our show has been great for the marriage, I think some hidden aggressions are vented during the show and we go home even more it love. If you can sit through 250 movies a year together & then argue about them in front of strangers, you got to be in love." |
