These past few weeks have been so exciting with the series hiatis being filled in with these wonderful dramas. Mildred Pierce is the story about a middle class housewife, now divorced having to cast off the predjudices of her lifestyle to knuckle down and get a job. She thinks it is beneath her to work as a waitress but forges ahead to feed her family. She climbs the ladder, all the while her real life is marching on. Bratty child, bad boy boyfriend etc. Mildred Pierce played by Oscar Winner Kate Winslet is amazing. The detail of the time, the lighting and an unrecognizable Mare Willingham as her waitress friend caught me off guard because it is so precise. Morgan Turner who plays her little daughter must be a great actress because I hate her. I just love the attitude of Melissa Leo the optomistic next door neighbor.
I encourage you to tune in to this masterpiece. I don't know who is going to win the emmy; the Kennedys or this???? What do you think?
